Rosie Hammond and Depew is just one of many teams trying to shoot down Frontier's repeat bid.

Area I
With two straight silver balls to their credit, Depew begins the quest for that elusive gold and the second-ranked Lady Hornets and future OU Sooner Rose Hammond are one of the clear favorites in a solid Area I race. Sixth-ranked Oilton has been very impressive, sporting two wins over last year's runner-up Davenport already this season, and has one of the biggest inside threats in the smaller classifications in the 6-3 Andrea Coggin. Look for surging squads for Mountain View-Gotebo and Seiling to make a run at one of the state slots and don't count out perennial contenders Beaver and Turpin either.

Area II
The surprise team of the season has been Stonewall and the fifth-ranked Lady Horns might continue to surprise in a very strong Area II chase. They'll have a very interesting battle with co-favorite and seventh-ranked Davenport, which has lost just two times all season, in what could shape up to be the best regional final in the state. How they ended up in the same regional is anybody's guess. The western flair of this area could have the best district pairing around with 13th ranked Tipton at 17th ranked Sentinel. It will be a long playoff road through regional and area for one of those.

Area III
The sensational Jenna Plumley and defending champ Frontier begins the quest for a third state title in the past four years and will be prohibitive favorites to take the winner's bracket road to state out of Area III. Eighth-ranked Garber is a slight favorite for the other state tournament slot but could have plenty of challengers in arguably the toughest area overall, including ninth-ranked Keota, 10th-ranked Picher, 11th-ranked Strother and 14th-ranked Pond Creek.

Area IV
Third and fourth-ranked New Lima and Crowder are the clear favorites in Area IV but will have to avoid some solid upset bids among a host of contenders. An experienced Smithville squad could give New Lima problems in a regional at Antlers while Caddo, which has also been in the Top 20 this season, should challenge Crowder in what would be an intriguing regional opener.
