TULSA - The troubles continue for former OSU football player Prentiss Elliot. Wednesday, a jury convicted the former Cowboy receiver of assaulting an off-duty police officer during a high school basketball game two years ago.

The incident happened in December 2003 when Elliot was a member of the TSST basketball team. Elliot was accused of inciting a riot and assault and battery after an altercation with Josh Martin, an off-duty police officer who was working security at the game.

The case was later reduced to a misdemeanor charge of assault.

The jury found Elliot guilty, but recommended no jail time. Elliot was imposed a fine of 250 dollars. He says he'll appeal.

Elliot was the state's leading rusher as a senior at TSST and later enrolled at Oklahoma State, before being dismissed last January.

He was coached by former Hominy Bucks (Coach Danny Daniels) at TSST.

TULSA -- A former high school and Oklahoma State University football standout pleaded no contest on Monday to a misdemeanor count of transporting a loaded firearm.

Tulsa County Special District Judge Millie Otey convicted Prentiss Elliott on the firearm count and sentenced Elliott to 15 days in jail.

Elliott faced six counts in all, but five counts -- obstructing an officer, failing to stop at a stop sign, turning improperly and two counts of failing to signal -- were dismissed. The charges stemmed from an Aug. 9 traffic episode in Tulsa.

"While maintaining his innocence, given the circumstances and his exposure, Prentiss was in favor of the resolution," defense attorney Richard O'Carroll said.

Elliott, who had been free on bail, was taken into custody following the sentencing hearing.

The 22-year-old was a receiver and kick returner at OSU.
He was a star running back at the Tulsa High School for Science and Technology.
