About the Sooners
Oklahoma is 14-5 overall this season and 5-3 in Big 12 Conference action, coming off a 59-58 loss at Kansas on Sunday. The Sooners are led by preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Taj Gray who is averaging 15 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Senior Terrell Everett leads the team with 115 assists and is second on the squad, averaging 12.2 points per game. In fact, four Sooners are averaging in double-figure scoring. As a team, Oklahoma is giving up just 59.7 points per contest, which drops to 58.5 ppg in league games. Coach Kelvin Sampson is in his 12th year at OU and brings with him a 274-105 record at the school. He is 449-253 in his 23rd year of coaching. Sampson is 10-14 overall against OSU, including a 2-9 mark in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Series History with OU
Oklahoma leads the all-time series 119-87, although the Cowboys are 56-40 in games played in Stillwater. Since the Big 12 formed in 1996-97, OSU is 10-8 vs. the Sooners. Oklahoma State won last year’s meeting in Gallagher-Iba Arena, 79-67, and has won the last five in the historic arena. OSU has won five of the last seven meetings overall. Eddie Sutton is 19-13 against OU since his return to his alma mater and 24-14 overall, including a 4-0 mark at Arkansas, a 1-0 record at Kentucky, and an 0-1 mark at Creighton. The two teams have split the season series in six of the last nine seasons. OSU has swept twice and OU has done it once.

Dove Returns to the Court
Sophomore Marcus Dove returned to the court against Kansas State, his first game since suffering a fracture in his pelvis in the first half of the Tennessee game. In those 10 games without their defensive stopper, the Cowboys went 4-6 and gave up nearly 71 points per game. In his first assignment, Dove smothered KSU’s Cartier Martin, who entered the game averaging 19.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Against Dove, Martin scored just eight points on 2-of-10 shooting and grabbed just two rebounds in 33 minutes.

Cowboys End Four-Game Skid
Oklahoma State ended its losing streak at four games with a 63-61 win over Kansas State on Saturday. During that string, three of the four losses were by two points, including two in overtime. The last time OSU lost four-consecutive games was during the 1991-92 season. The Cowboys lost three of those four on the road — at Colorado, Iowa State and Missouri — sandwiched around a home loss to Oklahoma. That year, OSU finished with a 28-8 record and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Up Next

OSU will then return home for a Big Monday game on Feb. 13 against Kansas (15-6, 6-2) in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPN.
