We could be heading toward yet another Dover-Hammon title game.
Area I
Top-ranked Hammon is the heavy favorite in Area I and should make a strong run at the gold ball once again. The other state qualifying spot could be up for grabs. We're giving Corn Bible the nod as a favorite, but top contenders Arnett or Shattuck could just as easily be considered for that other 'favorite' spot as well. Despite just a 12-11 record don't overlook a talented Lomega team that has suffered through some injuries. A major sleeper could be Leedey, although the Lady Bison face an uphill climb with a district final likely against unbeaten Hammon.
Area II
Look for third-ranked Fort Cobb-Broxton to make it out of a solid Area II unscathed. The other state tournament qualifying slot could come down to seventh-ranked Arapaho and ninth-ranked Union City. The two have played many of the same opponents this season but have yet to meet on the hardwood. That could all change in a possible area consolation final at Lawton. Calumet has played well at times this season with a young nucleus and could be a sleeper along with Sterling.
Area III
Defending champ Dover has lost just one playoff contest since the turn of the century. Expect that trend to continue as the Lady Horns are the major favorite in Area III. Sixth-ranked Schulter has had a terrific season and is expected to make it to state as well although a couple of major roadblocks await, including an athletic Boynton squad that has been right on the brink of the state tournament the past couple of seasons, despite a sub-par record.
Area IV
Kiowa has made the most of it's drop to Class B this season and is a strong favorite to make a return to the state tournament in Area IV. Outside of Kiowa (three losses), Pittsburg has toppled every other Class B opponent on the slate but will have to get past 16th ranked Tupelo is a rugged district final. A veteran Coleman squad could make a major run if the Lady Wildcats can put last year's playoff struggles behind them.
