No team has ever pulled a 3-peat in Class A boys. Bret Jackson and Frontier just might.

Area IV
Power-packed Area I should arguably be the most interesting in the state with three of the current top five Coaches Aid teams in the Class A rankings battling for just two state tournament slots. Second-ranked Pioneer and fourth-ranked Laverne are our favorites to reach state, but fifth-ranked Beaver could just as easily be there as well. It could take three straight wins for either Pioneer or Beaver, who will possibly hook up in a terrific regional final at Cherokee. Top contenders Agra and Depew will likely square for the district championship at Depew, leaving a lengthy road to state for one.

Area II
Lots of contenders in Area II with the slight favorite positions going to seventh-ranked Sentinel and ninth-ranked Okarche. Both have been shaky at times this season and will have to be at the top of their game every night to avoid an upset. In fact, Okarche could be challenged very early in regional play with a likely opening round showdown against an athletic Varnum squad. It will likely be a sensational regional winner's bracket at with Okarche, Varnum, Waurika and Stratford at a combined 10 losses on the season. Sentinel meanwhile could face off against the team that gave them their lone defeat in a regional final at Burns Flat.

Area III
Two-time defending state champ Frontier is the favorite by most to three-peat, as long as the playoff road doesn't take them anywhere near Tulsa (where they have suffered all four defeats this season). Anybody that thought the Mustangs had a cakewalk area better think again. Frontier's district adversary Copan has been coming on strong as of late, notching a 17-3 record going into this week. Fellow favorite Okeene is playing as well as just about anybody in Class A heading into the postseason and will likely tangle with the survivor of a fantastic district featuring Morrison and Ripley in a highly-anticipated regional opener.

Area I
A pair of early losses to Class 2A Wewoka and Oktaha are the only blemishes on the slate of third-ranked New Lima, the clear favorite in Area IV. Eighth-ranked Roff is our other favorite. Both teams will have plenty of competition along the way with top contenders Achille and Crowder combining for a grand total of just three losses. Those two teams will join Roff in the same regional as well with a possible first round showdown between 10th ranked Achille and 11th ranked Crowder looming on the Demons' home court. This area has the makings for some offensive fireworks.
