The Tulsa School of Science and Technology (Tulsa Tech) has been near the center of athletic controversy on a regular basis the last few years. That trend continued this week when the Titan boys basketball team was forced to forfeit six games for using an ineligible player.

According to Tulsa Public Schools Athletic Director Stephanie Spring, the district discovered the player in question was competing in his fifth year of high school and it was immediately reported to the OSSAA. The player had attended several different schools this year, prior to arriving at Tulsa Tech. After the forfeits, the Titans' record drops from 9-7 to 3-13 for the season.

It's the second time in three years the Titans have been forced to forfeit games it had already won due to inelgible players, including a similar incident in the 2003-04 school year.

TSST Player Declared Eligible, Wins Restored
Thursday February 09, 2006 2:59pm

Tulsa (AP) - The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association is reversing a decision on a Tulsa high school basketball player and now says the player is eligible.

The ruling restores six wins for Tulsa School of Science and Technology.

The O-S-S-A declared Titans player Yancey Duckett ineligible last week and said T-S-S-T would have to forfeit six wins in games Duckett played in since January 13th.

The O-S-S-A's board reversed the ruling after getting what officials say is confidential information to support a hardship ruling and restore Duckett's eligibility.

The decision improves T-S-S-T's record to 10-and-8.
