My father was a Wewoka grad and active on several committees before he passed away. The Wewoka school board is full of incompetent people who haven't a clue. There first mistake,, which is just one of many, was the firing of Coach Billy Brown who is now the football coach at Shawnee HS.

If Wewoka would have had Tucker Brown at QB, Wewoka could have been a powerhouse, but instead, they are a lackluster program spinning out of control. By that one move, the other sports programs are suffering today.

I wish Wewoka all the best, but until they get rid of the Superintendent, due a complete overhaul of the school board, nothing good will happen in the athletic department at Wewoka HS.

Just my opinion, which isn't worth a plug nickle.

What's the deal with Wewoka? I've heard people say it people say it's the Sup...which one? How many Superintendents have there been in the last 10 years? It's the Coach? Which one? How many have there been in the last 10 years? Maybe it's the school board or maybe it's the community? It seems to me that over the last ten years the only thing that has been consistent is the community and the school board. Coach Davis is a good football coach and Wewoka is a crazy for letting him go (walk). CRAZY; If you were to look CRAZY up in the dictionary, it would say "mentally deranged; demented; insane. See Also WEWOKA."

(Thanks for the kind words DaBears54, much appreciated)

First and foremost I have three children to feed, so frankly EVERY job is on my radar to some degree, whether I can get them or not.

Having said that, my view on the Crooked Oak situation to be completely honest is....

1. If my father wants the job I think he not only deserves it, but he should take it. I can also tell you I have encouraged him to try and take it so he can make one more run. But if he chooses to pass on it for whatever reason then.....

2. If my younger brother wants it, then I think he too deserves this job, and I would hope he could get it. There is no doubt in my mind he would do a great job there.

Now if for some reason BOTH of them decide they aren't going to get involved with the job - then and only then - will I try and get involved. And frankly speaking I haven't got a clue as to what my chances would be to get it - I would guess no better or no worse than anyone else at that point.

So, you don't know where your going yet?

Also, thanks for your honesty and input. It's nice when coaches aren't so secretive on how they feel and what they think.

I know that things really went down hill after Coach Brown left but what about Bruce Hendrickson???He went to the semis with a team that had far less talent than about 5 of those early 90 squads.
It just seems schools are unappreciative of what some coaches accomplish/do for their program.
Remember they are just a year removed from ROCK BOTTOM...0-10 and they went 5-5 this season and would have been better in 08.
Sometimes I think SOME administrators don't care how their teams perform...or if they even have one! As long as they can make payroll and their name isn't on the front of the Daily Oklahoman things are OK.

Slapdog, we told you not to take that job in the first place. The principal is a pretender and the superintendent is a former girls softball coach. (every football coaches nightmare) They are NOT going to let anybody come into that school and gain the respect of the kids - especially the principal - he wants to be the big man on campus. The guy reminds me of one of those old school PE teachers who stuffs his jock and wears tight shorts - he has no clue that he has no clue.

Very few people truly realize how bad that situation was when you took it. You will land on your feet in a much better place. Just do yourself a favor, go out like a peacock and let them stare at your *** (tailfeathers) for a couple months. They deserve that.

i think you guys have the principal miss pegged. i played with hinm in college and i know that he has the highest character that there is. I have not talked to him in a while but i am sure that he is not a pretender. seems to me that there have been problem at wewoka long before he was there.

All I can tell you is he could learn a lesson from this quote by Abraham Lincoln:

"Every man can endure trying times, if you want a true test of ones character, give him power."
