Yeah, it's a sore spot in my side, Turbo. Beaver has one of the top ten gymnasiums in all of Oklahoma and is almost always overlooked when consideration for post season tournaments come around. In the past 11 years, Beaver has only hosted two. We've had a couple of sub sights as well, but that's about it. Our neighbors to the east whose gym is half the size and not near as comfortable as ours has hosted over 10. It's all political. The OSSAA is all about the inner circle and good ole boy system.

It is a fantastic gym!
Tell Brent to slap a wide angle lens on his camera and go take some beauty shots of the DusterDome and post them here.

The Fieldhouse was built in 71-72. It has 1500 seats with seat backs. 1000 of those are padded. The bleachers will pull out all around the floor and are capable of holding another 1000. The padded seats are still the original material as no drinks are allowed out of the concession area. They are covered with plastic for the offseason the day after the last home game of each year. The floor is three stories down and the domed roof is another three stories tall. It's a mini Lloyd Noble that is much more art crafted. Beautiful woodwork throughout especially the arched beams that make up the framework for the domed roof. Carl Alberts gym is the only one I can think of that is remotely close in size and quality.
The original plan included a swimming pool in a fourth level below the basketball court. That idea was scrapped because of worry the bond issue wouldn't pass. The vote of the people in the school district for the new structure passed by less than 10 votes back in 1970. The cost was $750,000 which was payed off early in the early 80's. Today it would cost more like $10to 15 mill.

I don't know of anyway to show you an item over the internet, Moses. The Booster Club sells everything you are talking about. They can be contacted over on beaverdusters.com. You can also call Sherry at 580-625-4256 after 5:00 pm at the "Rainbow Connection". She 's a teacher that also does a clothing business that supplies many clothing items for the school and Booster Club. They have a lot of items at the games and may very well have them at the Area Final this Friday in Enid. I will ask around about someway to get you a picture of the items.

Thanks! I will give her a call, you guys have got one of the neatest mascots and logo's in the state! I wish Commerce would switch to a traditional color of Orange/Black or Yellow/Black to go with the Tiger mascot, come on now, blue/white! How original is that?
