Watching the Kentucky vs. Arkansas game...

I see Felix Jones tearing it up for the Hogs.

Then, to my surprise, I see Derrick Locke from Hugo running free for Kentucky as a true freshman.

Got a few others I have questions on (mostly from the Falcon coaches):

What's news/latest on Swindall, Jones, and Roberts? Is Romine (I think that's his name) playing at Notre Dame.

I know Tyler Simmons, from Washington, is trying hard up at Navy... they don't play many (any) freshmen. Probably going to have to wait his turn.

Post on here about the others if you know anything... also, if there other Okies playing some D1 ball for teams other than OU, OSU, and Tulsa.

Falcon coaches... y'all out there?

Anyone else know any D1 athletes from the last couple of years and their status?

Alright here we go. Gerald has played some this year but has been slowed by a hamstring injury. He is finally getting to 100% and we will start seeing a lot of him. I talked with him today and he said he is playing in a JV game against Hargrave tomorrow night. He said that he is going to play WR and QB in this game so I will update you guys on how he played tomorrow. He will be back in town on Friday and will be at our game because they have an off week. He should see an awful lot of time against Georgia next week. He was in the Game plan a lot against Florida but he tweaked his hammy pretty bad so he didnt make the trip. He is not going to redshirt this year because they expext him to be fully healthy and contributing.

Now on Tramain, he is redshirting as of now but he usually travels. He has made quite an impression on the coaching staff and they expect him to start next year. In their first fall scrimmage earlier this year he caught 3 balls for around 130 and 1 TD. If Amendola or Walker gets hurt then Coach Littrell said that they will pull the redshirt and play him.. They also said that he is ready to play right away but since he has 2 seniors in front of him that a redshirt was better than him seeing 3-6 plays a game.. As of now he is 6'3 3/4 184lbs. When he got down there this summer he was benching around 225 and now I believe his bench is up around 320..

Gil is just running track at Tech. I spoke with him a few days ago and he almost had a heat stroke after running some 600s, basically what happened is he went out there and was trying to prove a point that he was the best on the team, which he did and wound up collapsing. He spent some time in the hospital and was released he is doing a lot better but they are holding him out of workouts for another week or so.

Corey Muse is playing for SMU, He was a 2nd team all-conference DE last season. He has 9 tackles on the season and is leading the team with 3 sacks for -23 yards.

Nick Graham is a kid who played for Tulsa last year and he signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Eagles and has actually started at corner for them this season.. He is a great great athlete and is definately going to be in the league for a long time..

those are the guys off the top of my head..

Sitting here watching LSU/Kentucky before OU game.

Derrick Locke comes into the game and immediately gives them a spark. Just explained some of his story... Came to Kentucky on track scholly. Was 4th string RB before that great Arkansas game. Now splits time with one or two other RB in that spread system. He just looks so solid... kinda like a Goodson at A&M or Murray from OU. Not saying he's as good, but similar style and build. I just remember everyone dogging him on CA last year when he was tearing it up for Hugo... saying there's no way he could make it D1 and that his team helped him do everything...bla..bla..bla. Well, he just gained 24 yds in 2 plays on the #1 D in the country.

Any updates on Gerald Jones?

Heard that Bumpus(? The big DE from Muskogee last year) got some pt for OSU and did pretty well.

Anyone else?

How about those Okie boys on the Sooner squad, leading them to victory.

DJ Wolfe, Reggie, Lofton, Bradford, Gresham, etc.

Also an Update: Locke scores game tying TD to send it to OT, which Kentucky ends up winning. Locke ends up with 20+ carries.

Hey Falcon coaches...

I heard that Tennessee is starting to or is going to be using Gerald Jones in the "Wildcat" formation quite a bit. I think that is incredible. That formation was made for him. He can run, catch, or throw. I wish I could see some of him playing that. More or less what he ran in HS, but can be even more dangerous against more speed.

Also, saw today that Kansas (Yes... UNDEFEATED Kansas!!!) has 16 Okies on their roster and 6 start. OU has 6 Okie starters. OSU has 4. Just thought that was intersting.

I'll be @ Stillwater on Saturday for the KU game. I would love to see the Cowboys come away with a victory, but don't hold your breath. This could be a game Mangino slips on. . .

Also, OU better be careful against the Baylor Bears. OU seams to bring out the best of Baylor. . .

...and vica versa. OU has been know to throw a stink bomb at the Bears. We'll see how motivated this OU team still is. This should be a North Texas score.

Was looking at the stats for all the Vol's games to see if I could get anything on Jones. The first stats I found were in the Alabama game Jones had 2 catches for 27 yards his long was 17 yards. He had 1 catch in the South Carolina game for 20 yards. His best game was last week against Louisiana-Lafayette he had 2 catches for 10 yards and ran the ball twice for 20 yards and a TD. Looks like he's just getting warmed up to the college game.

Another okie on the Vol's roster was Chase Nelson a DT from Tulsa Union.

Yeah I didn't list the Kansas players because they have 14 local's on the team. They're more Oklahoma than OU and OSU.

That was pretty cool! We were just watching that kid last season on the Oklahoma HS gridiron & hardwood. Now, he's catching passes for the Vols in prime-time - as a true freshman!! Great athlete!

Things are looking really good for Gerald up at Tenn. He has 8 catches for 77 yards and 1TD and he has 3 rushes for 18 yards and 1TD. He also has about 10-12 knockdown blocks and 1 tackle when he tackled McFadden returning a kick. Coach taylor has come out and said that Gerald is one of the best blockers on the team. It looks like Ainge might start trusting him a little more too, so I would expect to see him do a little more in the SEC Championship game and then in the bowl game as well..

The Touchdown catch was awsome, but I was more impressed later on in overtime with 3rd down and he catches a buble and splits two defenders to get a first down....He is really good player and is pretty football savy...

There are some youtube.com clips of Gerald, including the catch.

Whatever happened to Pawnee's Gerald Jones??

Pawnee's Gerald & Gerrad when to NEO to play in 05. Gerrad came home, but Gerald played for at least one season. Not for sure about the details.

Last I talked to both of them, Gerald is working construction in Stillwater. He is thinking about trying to walk-on. Gerrad is working in Stillwater (don't know where - barly talks, just smiles alot. . .:) :) ).

Grant, I thought, was going to NFL camps as a free agent. I don't think he was picked up by any teams.

Not real sure their parents are still in Pawnee. They may have all moved to Stillwater.

G. Jones had 40 yards on 2 carries durring the SEC Championship game. Then they didn't get the ball to him the rest of the game. I am miffed as to why that is.

They tried. I saw two passes get knocked down that were thrown his way. Also, the big interception was on a route thrown to GJ. I was surprised they didn't run a little more of the "Volunteer"-Cat with him. It worked very well when I saw it.

Nice building block year for him, coming off that injury. Should be great the next few years, if he keeps working.
