The Trojans are led by the trio of Lenny Juliano (14.2 ppg), Larin Wiens (13.9 ppg) and Travis Mendel (13.8 ppg).

OBA’s girls (21-0) will be trying to wrap up an undefeated against the Lady Saints, who are not ranked. OCS beat 3A Heritage Hall 35-33 Tuesday.

“It would be a feather in our cap for it (undefeated regular season) to happen,’’ said Lady Trojans coach Mark Shuck, “but we know the postseason is where the season begins. That’s the fun time.’’

OBA, ranked No. 4 in 2A, is led by Jordan Williams (12.7 ppg) and Faith Garrard (10.9 ppg). The Lady Trojans have held 17 opponents under 40 points.

Going undefeated is a difficult task

Oklahoma Bible Academy’s girls 44-41 loss to Oklahoma Christian School Friday might just show how tough it is to go undefeated in basketball.

The Lady Trojans, 21-0 going into the game, walked into a hostile atmosphere against a fired-up Lady Saints team.

“We didn’t shoot free throws well, and they played well,” said OBA coach Mark Shuck. “They came out and made plays when they needed to. Their kids were sky high and the crowd was really into it.”

Bridget Shuck, one of OBA’s steadiest leaders, played only about five minutes before fouling out.

The Lady Trojans had a few escapes during the season. OBA needed to go overtime to beat Cimarron 37-34 in the finals of the KOFM Classic and Fairview, 48-42.

The Lady Trojans looked somewhat uninspired in a 40-32 win over Timberlake Tuesday.

“Going undefeated wasn’t our goal, it just happened that way,” coach Shuck said. “We have to refocus for the playoff run.”

Shuck said in recent weeks the Lady Trojans’ focus has been more on the playoffs.

The Lady Trojans have a pretty good draw.

There only were three other teams ranked in Coaches Aid in OBA’s area tournament — No. 9 Hinton, No. 10 Crescent and No. 11 Dale.

Hinton and Crescent could be a major roadblock in the regional finals. The Comets and Lady Tigers shared the title in the prestigious Three Rivers Conference.

Crescent has one of the top players in the area in 5-foot-10 senior center Tiearra Johnson.

Fatigue could be OBA’s biggest problem. While the Lady Trojans host Hennessey in the district Friday, they have to go to Weatherford and Clinton for the regionals and to Cushing for the area.
