Checotah brings out the D to edge Oktaha
Oktaha girls 69, Checotah 31
CHECOTAH —The defending 2A state champion Lady Tigers are ready for another run at a gold ball and they’re getting timely help from their bench in doing so — just like they did Tuesday in beating the Lady Wildcats.
Kimber Weant, Rachel Lowery and Tiffany Tucker combined for 26 points in reserve roles as the No. 2 Lady Tigers (23-1) rolled to the victory. Lowery and Weant had 10 each and Tucker scored six.
Checotah dropped to 1-23.
“We’re eight deep now and pretty solid,” Oktaha coach Chester Pittman said. “Our players coming off the bench are playing well for us.”
Misty Haley led Oktaha with 15 points, while Britny Pittman had 12 and Julee Henderson added 10.
Oktaha had a 11-2 run to close out the second quarter to lead 26-15 at halftime. The Lady Tigers then came back with an 18-0 run in the third quarter to increase their lead from 34-22 to 52-22.
Jayme Johnson and Megan Jones led the Lady Wildcats (1-23) with eight points each.
