Fields suffers worst loss as coach
Written by: Ryan Steele, Sports Writer

Rhonda Fields suffered her worst loss as a head coach Tuesday when her Lady Pioneers fell, 67-30, to No. 2 Jenks at home.

The Lady Trojans (20-0) kept their perfect season alive by forcing SHS to commit 36 turnovers — including the 26 times JHS stole the ball from the Lady Pioneers (11-10).

“This is a game that I think our younger girls should pay attention and learn from,” Fields said. “There have been times when we’ve been able to do things halfway and get by with it, but then you get up to this level of competition and that just doesn’t cut it.

“The intimidation factor is what was frustrating — that we didn’t get tough and take it to (JHS).”

The undefeated Lady Trojans started the game on a 9-0 run and SHS trailed by six, 13-7, at the end of the first quarter with some help from senior Tracey Cole.

“I got to give it to Tracey, she stepped up and was one of the more aggressive girls on the floor (Tuesday),” Fields said. “My question is, can she do it again? We’re getting ready to go into the playoffs and we’ve needed that kind of effort from her all year long.”

Cole scored a team-high 14 points for the Lady Pioneers and led in rebounding with seven boards. Alisha Huddleston and Brittany Geter each chipped in with four, and senior Lauren Dickey — the squad’s leading scorer for the season — contributed just two points.
