Tonkawa Champs
Written by: DAVID MILLER, News Sports Writer
EDMOND — The third time was the charm for the Tonkawa Buccaneers who won the State Class A football championship by beating Washington, 28-11, Saturday in UCO's Wantland Stadium.
The Bucs struck early Saturday to build a 14-3 halftime lead. But Washington cut the margin to 14-11 early in the fourth quarter.
However, Bo Bowling, who engineered the first two Tonkawa scores, ran the ensuing kickoff back 90 yards to give the Bucs some breathing room.
Adam Smith shut the door on Washington, returning an interception 50 yards for a touchdown in the closing minutes.

I would be lying if I said it didn't. I got a set of every game on DVD and it is fun to watch the games with Adam and he gives me insight about different things that went on on the field. I will always attend the Buc games, but it sure won't be the same next year without Adam playing. Thanks on the congrats.

Hey Mr. Buc, Nice shot. I will miss all the Class A stuff but will check in a lot as rumor has it, the Wildcat stay in 2A will only be two years.

You've got that right. I've gone through two burners this last year.
At one time, I had three computers burning at the same time.:spin:

If you ask me and I know your not, but the state championship was played one game before. Either team Vian or Tonk would have rocked washington's head. On that same note if Vian and and Tonk play that game 5 times Vian win's 4 of them! We played like crap and was never out of the game, and that's the facts jack!

Ol' Smoke... Good to have you back!
Vian just wishes the State Championship game was the game before! Semi's just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it? I don't think Tonk "rocked Washington's head" and I'm pretty sure, Vian wouldn't have either. If Vian played Tonkawa 5 times, Vian would win one. The one when Tonk's coach got tired of beating Vian, so he put in different players at different positions, just to get a little practice!

Washington was much better than Vian last year.
Tonkawa used Vian. They were only in the game when the QB caught Bowling on the other side of the field. Other than that one play, Vian was JACKED-UP......
Locust, and Co. couldn't do anything against Tonk.
Vian, couldn't stop Bowling. The "Dog Pound" was not help at all...
Your just lucky Bo had a couple of scores called back. Otherwise, it would have been much worse...
Kirtley let you all score late in the fourth quarter.
How many yards did Locust have against the Bucs? My film showed well below 100 yds. Any why didn't he get into the endzone? Oh, I forgot, it was because of the Tonkawa Defense. You forgot who you were playing that day. Tonkawa is no Rush Springs.......Hell, Keys should have beat you guys.

Those are some big words Deion. Tonkawa didn't "use Vian", nor was Vian "jacked up". We lost, but not like you put it. If that had been the case then it would have been a beating, not a seven point. I will admit that we didn't play our best, but Tonkawa was the better team. Honestly, I think that if we played them 5 times, Tonkawa would win 5 times. I do think that it would be a different story on natural grass though. I know people from v-town are always blaming that, but I think we would have played much better on natural grass. That doesn't mean we would have won though. And no one let us score in the 4th quarter. We earned that score fair and square. The fact of who was better between Washington and Vian last year will always remain specualtion. Different views and different opinions and no one will ever really know. as far as Tonk and Vian goes, we were outplayed and outcoached. It hurts me to say it, but the better team won. And the only reason Keys came as close to beating us as they did is because our defense played like crap that game. I still want to know why Timmy was punting toward the sidelines against the wind. That's just assinine!

I'm not going to give excuses, and I'm not going to give my opinion on whether Vian was better Tonkawa or vice versa. However, I will say that the championship game was played in the semi-finals. Opinions are only opinions, it's actually pretty pointless to talk about it when we have a brand new season in front of us...can't we all just get along? :D

Not just get a long, but move on and put the game behind us. This isn't something the Wolverines need to dwell on.

Finally, That is the most scensible thing I've heard a Vian fan say in a long time.
I wish you guys nothing but success in 2A this year.
