Cordell Blue Devils New Football Coach
Rumor mill is that he has accepted the Cordell Blue Devils Head Football Coach position left vacant by Coach Bruce Hendrickson.
Coaching Experience
Rocky Powell begins his 20th year on the Bulldogs football coaching staff. His tenure rates as the longest for a grid aid in the school’s 100-year football history.
Powell serves in the dual capacity of assistant head coach and linebacker and special teams’ boss.
A 1981 graduate of SWOSU, Powell played four seasons with the Bulldogs and was a member of the 1977 NAIA National Runner-up team.
Powell came to SWOSU in 1986 after coaching five years at Clinton High School . He received his master’s degree from SWOSU in 1986.
A native of Cordell, Powell and his wife, Ginger, have one adult son, John David and two teenage daughters, Tamara and Tiffany.
